At Phoenix Steels, like the profiled sheeting all flashings and gutters are made bespoke and available in our wide colour range. However, with flashings such as barge boards and ridge capping, we keep a high stock which are 200mm x 200mm wide as standard.

Colour Coatings

Colourcoat Plastisol

Colourcoat Plastisol is produced to an exclusive formulation. The development of Plastisol coatings and they are found on more UK cladding sheets than all other types added together.

The thick 200 micron coating is tough, and can withstand rough treatment in the workshop, during transit and on site. It is also durable and has good colour stability and opacity. The colour range consists of 14 shades and the II Accent colours.

In normal environments in the UK, and given proper maintenance, Colourcoat can have a life expectancy on the weatherside of over 40 years. Regular attention is necessary and recommended to achieve lasting life with the first usually being 10-25 years depending on the environment, the profile, the orientation and the colour.

Flashing & Guttering Information

 

All flashings are in lengths are 3 meter long as standard. Flashings can also have the option of having the edges welted where the edge of the flashing is completely turned back on itself. This is for safety as the edge of the sheet can be sharp but also to make it look better and give the flashing a bit more strength and stability.  Gutter prices vary on different sizes and gauges of material. A price can be given on request from one of our sales team. A guide of all the flashings that we have to follow is below and are available in our whole colour range.

We pride ouselves on be able to cater all our customers needs whether it be a simple 50mm x 50mm or 600mm x 600mm or as many bends as the flashing needs to make it look as sharp as possible. These are last parts to go on the roof so its best to make sure they look right and finish the job well.

Head

Like a Drip Cill, the head flashing is fitted to divert water away from the wall cladding to stop any dampness. A Head also blocks the gap between the wall and the sheet. They are attached behind the sheet and then bend out away from the wall then return back. Head flashings are often used above doorways.

Ridge

Ridge flashings are used on apex roofs where the roof cladding joins in the center on the building. This creates a clean cut finished look. Our most popular Ridge flashing is 200mm x 200mm.

Drip Cill

Drip cills are fitted to the lower part of wall cladding and are bent to an angle to direct any water that may occur away from the building.

Barge

Barge boards are also used on the ends of apex roofs to shield the gap that would be present from the wind to avoid the sheets from lifting.

Corner/ Jamb

Corner flashings are essentially the same as barge board flashing but instead of the flashing being horizontal the capping is vertical. Corner flashings cap the corners of the cladding run. Jambs are another form of corner flashings.

Abutment (Apron)

Abutment’s are used when steel sheets finish against a wall to seal the trim. The welts are on the reverse side to barge boards. Abutments are used vertically rather than horizontally. These are essentially internal corner flashings.

Eaves

Eaves are often used as a decorative flashing to create a finished look on a building and are located at the end of the run of cladding.

Valley

Valley flashings are used when two pitched roofs meet and form a valley. The valley system at Phoenix Steels can be offered in multiple sections with a capping over the top for a decorative finish. This is sometimes known as a leaf guard system.

Phoenix Steels gutters are made to measure to your building. The gutters direct the water-flow away from the building to stop any leakage in to the building.
